Pittsburgh Hospital Dresses Newborns as Mister Rogers To Celebrate World Kindness Day

Even though we should all spread kindness every day of the year, it is nice to have one dedicate to kindness especially anyway. It can’t be too much of it anyway, isn’t that right? In order to celebrate that, some people all over the world are celebrating it by contributing to the ‘Cardigan Movement’ by wearing cardigans in honor of the late Mr. Rogers. Wearing a cardigan on World Kindness Day is supposed to symbolize the Mister Roger’s tradition of kindness, as the children’s television start Fred Rogers was widely known for spreading compassion. This hospital in Pittsburgh decided to contribute to the movement by dressing their newborns in red Fred Rogers style cardigans and it’s just too adorable!

Many a photo with a cute cardigan outfit was posted on the INternet that day but few of them could compete with those posted by UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. They sure won this “competition” by dressing up their newborns in adorable red crocheted cardigans. The staff even fixed the little ones up with tiny collars and ties to finish up the outfit!

Cardigans were made by one of their own nurses Caitlin Pechin, who enjoys crocheting and does that pretty often. But nothing brings her more joy than crocheting for babies. And we can really understand her. After all, it would be hard indeed to find models for her creations that would be any cuter.

Arguably, Joanne Rogers’ lit up face is just as adorable of a sight as the little ones themselves

All this was done in honor of Mr. Rogers, so naturally, when his widow Joanne Rogers came to pay a visit on the special days, she couldn’t keep her emotions to herself. Probably no one would argue that her expression is the face of cuteness itself! And if that wasn’t enough for you, just note that she was wearing one of her husband’s famous cardigans herself!

“I really enjoy making things for all the babies because they look so cute in them,” she said

Hospital staff also added little collar shirts and tiny ties to go along with the cardigans

If your heart didn’t melt after seeing the adorable baby outfits, the face of Mrs. Rogers must have done that! After all, it was all done to spread the message of kindness, which Joanne sure did by sincerely wishing the new parents luck and gave beautiful advice to always support one another.

Kudos to the team of beautiful people who made this cuteness happen!
