This year, Disney proved with the movie "The Lion King" that they can turn one of the best-known animated musical/drama classics into an incredibly astonishing photorealistic computer-animated remake which would keep movie theaters full all over the world. "The Lion King" is not the first (and hopefully, not the last) remake that Disney recently released. Disney has already recreated "Dumbo" and "Aladdin" in 2019, and we're also expecting to see "Maleficent" and "Lady and the Tramp" soon.
Chilean illustrator Fernanda Suarez also decided to recreate some famous Disney characters with the "Modern Princesses" project but this time with some characters from famous video games. Fernanda shows how famous characters would look if their movies would be released today. Each of them has their own unique features which are easily distinguished but at the same time, you can see a modern twist that the artist perfected. All characters are unique and charming reflecting on young and modern women, so the question is which one would you choose for a new live-action movie?

#1 Ursula
The vicious Ursula is the main antagonist of the 1989 Disney movie "The Little Mermaid". Considered as one of the most popular Disney villains, she'll soon be seen in cinemas all over the world. Even though we're not entirely sure about the potential casting decisions for all the characters, the filming and production is rumored to start in early 2020.

Anastasia is an animated musical historical fantasy movie which was produced and directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman in 1997. Based on the urban legend that the missing princess Anastasia Romanov escaped the tragic murder of her family, the movie was associated with Fox Animation Studios and just recently became the property of Disney. That's right, Anastasia was not a Disney princess up until recently!

#3 Wendy Darling
Wendy Darling is the deuteragonist of the 1953 Walt Disney movie "Peter Pan" based on J. M. Barrie's original novel. It might be new for some of us that the name Wendy was very uncommon in the English-speaking world before "Peter Pan". It is thought that Barrie took this name from a phrase used by his friend's daughter Margaret Henley whom he befriended. She called him "friendly-wendy", which she pronounced as "fwendy-wendy". Unfortunately, Margaret Henley died at the age of five and was buried with her family.

Morrigan Aensland is an unforgettable blue-haired fictional character in the video game series called "Darkstalkers". She's pretty much an anti-hero and also a main protagonist who goes along with Demitri Maximoff. Charming, confident, sexy and playful, Morrigan can be all the things you want given that she is a succubus. However, she's not necessarily evil despite her heritage as a demon of the Makai realm.

Chun-Li is a video game character from the Street Fighter series, originally debuting in Street Fighter II. What's really impressive is the fact that she's the first female fighter of any fighting game franchise. She's depicted as an expert martial artist and Interpol officer who restlessly seeks revenge for the death of her father.

Princess Anna of Arendelle is a fictional character of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd animated film Frozen. She's based on a character called Gerda which was featured in the Danish fairytale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen.

Jane Porter is the deuteragonist of the 1999 Walt Disney movie "Tarzan". She is depicted as a very charismatic, albeit eccentric ethnologist who travels to Africa with her father to study gorillas. Princess Peach is a well-known video game character that is featured in Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros" series. She is the princess of the fictional Mushroom Kingdom and also the lead female character that often plays the damsel in distress role. Princess Peach is often portrayed as Mario's love interest that he's so eager to rescue. Fun fact: in 2017, Princess Peach actually was recognized as one of the wealthiest fictional people by Forbes magazine. Her fortune is estimated at approximately $1.3 billion. Who would have guessed that?
