43 Funny ‘Sharpie Gate’ Memes In Response To Trump Showing A Fake Hurricane Map Altered With A Sharpie

The President of the United States Donald Trump is making headlines once again. The newest ‘scandal’ to rock the Presidency has everything to do with the idea that just because you draw on something with a marker pen, it doesn’t change reality. The only ones with the power to turn ink into reality are writers and artists, and Trump is neither.

When the President showed off a predictive National Hurricane Center map, it looked like it was drawn on with a Sharpie in one place. Trump insisted that hurricane Dorian had a “95% chance” of hitting Alabama, even though the National Weather Service denied it. And, boy, did the internet love where this was going. The memes started coming in fast and furious, and Trump was the butt of the joke.

Bored Panda brings you this amazing list of the very best and funniest memes about the so-called Sharpiegate ‘scandal.’ Upvote your favorites, drop us a comment, share with your friends, and keep on scrolling. Once you’re done with this list, have a read through my post about Trump and his Baltimore comments, which includes a detailed interview with Linas Kojala, the director of the Eastern Europe Studies Centre in Vilnius.

Hurricane Dorian is no joke, though. CNN reports that at least 30 people have died in the Bahamas and that the storm is moving northwards, along the eastern United States seaboard.

According to CNN, Dorian is currently a Category 1 storm and will move along the coast of the Carolinas on Thursday and Friday (which is today, unless you’re reading this later on — hello, Pandas from the future).

The massive hurricane has left at least 271,000 people in North Carolina and South Carolina without power. This number is likely to increase with every hour.

Dorian is now a Category 1 storm, which means its maximum sustained winds are 90 miles per hour (nearly 145 kilometers per hour). The BBC writes that on Thursday, the hurricane was a Category 2 storm with winds reaching 105 mph (165km/h), and had even reached 115mph (185km/h) earlier.

The looming threat of the storm is liable to make anyone scared, so there’s no need to make people panic if they’re not in danger. And remember — just because you draw something with a marker pen, it doesn’t make it real. Unless you’re a writer or an artist, of course.
