LEGO’s aren’t just for kids anymore. In a collaboration with IndieGooGo enterprise, the famous toy brand has announced the LEGO® FORMA, a new set that will be catered towards adults. While you may be familiar with the toy sets as a way to placate rowdy kids, LEGO wants to encourage adults to use play as a way de-stress.
The new LEGO FORMA is more of a “creative project” than their child set counterparts, said Kari Vinther, Senior Marketing Manager and Head of Creative Play Lab Pilots. The display set is a 294 piece model Koi fish
It includes a gear system to generate a life-like swimming motion along with unique customizable skins that include Shark Skin, Splash Skin, Koi Skin, and even a decorate your own with Ink Koi Skin.
“The young adults we speak to tell us they still feel the urge to be creative and enjoy the physical experience of making stuff – but life seems to get in the way,” said Vinther. Both companies hope the product facilitates a way for adults to disconnect from their screens. And tap into their creative side through a fun challenge.
The model is small enough to be a cute addition to any room around the house. “We want to help them [adults] rediscover the joy of building that children possess and unleash their imaginations for a couple of hours”.
The first round of the fun new display was only released as a limited, short-run batch on the IndieGoGo website and is unsurprisingly already sold out.
According to an official statement by LEGO: “A series of pilots are being planned to run in various locations and formats over the coming year to float new ideas, crowdsource others, and receive real-time feedback from consumers to evaluate whether concepts should be developed and scaled.”
