Insecurities can affect anyone, even those who seemingly have it all. Just ask Lili Reinhart, star of hit TV series Riverdale. Reinhart is an outspoken campaigner for mental health issues, having suffered from anxiety and depression herself, as well as being a champion for body positivity.
“I’m not that flawless image person, she said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “I could never live up to that. I’m not going to make people think I’m this airbrushed version of myself. There are lots of versions of me. My hair looks like shit most of the time. It looks great when I’m on a carpet, sure, but that’s not the only side I want people to see of myself.”
Her candid admissions about how low self esteem and insecurities have garnered some critics however, those who look at her Hollywood figure and believe she has no right to be insecure. “Betty does know that she wouldn’t have a job or be in magazines if her body wasn’t socially accepted, right?” said one commentor, referencing Reinhart’s character on the show. “But no. She’d rather try to tell MY fat ass what body shaming is & that her body “isn’t like” Gigi Hadid’s even tho it is.”
This prompted Reinhart to raise some important points of body dysmorphia and insecurities.Who has the right to decide how others should feel? Scroll down below to see how it all unfolded below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
