The 'Solo' premiere gave us some of the biggest Star Wars surprises yet

HOLLYWOOD — When the invites came in for the world premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 10, the date was curious enough to raise the eyebrows of a Wookiee. 

The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi: all three Star Wars movies of the Disney era so far had shut down multiple blocks with show-stopping Saturday night festivities. (We reported on them here, here and here)Solo would have its coming out party on ... a Thursday. 

What? The galaxy's greatest scoundrel didn't deserve a weekend-level rager too? Was this a subtle sign that Lucasfilm was embarrassed by the Young Han Solo flick, which infamously changed directors midstream, and was trying to brush it under the red carpet?
